There are a few important parameters you might want to take into account in order to not only pick a memorable name but also one that will get you more downloads. Think of your App’s name as the first impression you make on your users. You have a very narrow window to get their attention in the stores so use it properly.
Remember the stores requirements. The App Store allows you to use 50 characters, while Google Play limits you to only 30 characters. It thus makes sense to come up with a name that’s under 30 characters and stick to it. In the App dashboard users will only see the first 12 characters so the name that is placed under your app icon will be limited in character count.
In this sample, you see an app named “My Great App” that uses all 12 characters available.
This short name will be used on the phone screen under the app icon.
When you set your app for publishing, you can add a longer name for the Store entry:
This name will be shown at the store when people search for your app.
